Find a location and prepare for a POI

Use the map for your actual world. The same building name can occur in different locations on different generated worlds.

Description

Coordinates are useful for a specific world. A building name and generation seed do not provide a universal address across versions and map settings. When sharing a location, identify the world and position, not just its building type.

A building is a route, not just a chest

A POI is a distinct location such as a house, shop or factory. Inspect its surroundings and exit before entering. Moving through its rooms helps you notice traps and enemies but does not guarantee safety.

Do not enter the next room solely because the previous one was empty. Leave retreat space, watch the floor and account for enemies above or behind you.

Give a loot route priorities

When seeking a tool, prioritize relevant containers and places offering many of them. When running a quest, its objectives come before an unrelated detour for chests.

Assess the complete route rather than only the final room. Encumbrance, missing medicine and worn tools can make returning harder than the entrance fight. Quest activation can reset the location.

What to do

  1. Check your world's map and choose a location that suits the expedition. The same building type may appear in several places.
  2. Mark the destination and plan access and retreat. For a quest, follow its marker and objective list.
  3. Before entering, prepare loot space, repairs and treatment. Look around as you move through the building and preserve an exit.
  4. Before activating a quest, remove valuables from the reset area and coordinate the start with teammates.

Worked example

Mark the exact world as well as the coordinates when sharing a location. A building name identifies a type of location; it does not tell a teammate which copy you mean if the world contains several.

Common mistake

Following coordinates from a different world or game-generation configuration.
