Traders and quests: from accepting a job to collecting the reward

Accepting a job, activating it at the location and completing every objective are separate stages. Read the objective list throughout the trip.

Description

Searching a building does not complete every quest associated with it. A job may require a specific quest shipment, designated enemies or other actions. The objective state is what matters.

Choose a job you can finish

A fetch job needs the quest item. A clear job needs its required enemies cleared. Combined objectives require both parts. Do not leave simply because you found the main loot chest.

Before entering, check medicine, weapon condition, compatible ammunition and free storage. Map distance excludes time spent fighting, returning and handling problems along the way.

Activating a quest can change the location

Quest activation can reset a building and its contents. Do not store valuable equipment within the area that will reset. A chest placed there is not a sensible long-term store for repeated jobs.

In a team, confirm participation and readiness before starting. Activating while a teammate is still travelling can complicate completing the objective together.

When completion does not register

Open the objectives. If clearing remains, check missed rooms and enemy indicators. If the shipment is missing, do not confuse it with ordinary chest loot. Also check whether you remain inside the required area.

Before another attempt, establish whether the quest is active, ready to turn in or failed. Randomly walking through the building again does not resolve every state.

Count the whole round trip

Compare the reward and retained loot with ammunition, healing, fuel and return time. A shorter job near a trader can provide better progress per hour than a distant difficult one.

A reward's value depends on your plan. A missing workstation component may help more than a more expensive item you will not use. Leave inventory space to receive the reward.

What to do

  1. Choose a trader job that fits your available time, equipment and return route.
  2. Check its location and type. Pack for the objective, not just the fighting.
  3. Activate it at the location as directed and track its objectives. Coordinate the start when playing in a group.
  4. After completing the required stages, return to the relevant trader and claim the reward.

Worked example

In a combined fetch-and-clear quest, you found the shipment but still have a combat objective. Returning with the package alone does not complete the whole job.

Common mistake

Treating the final loot chest as universal proof that a quest is finished.
