Try: water, woda, how to cure infection, motocykl

Your first session: what to do and what the words mean

Your first goal is to stay alive, find supplies and prepare a place to return to. You do not need to understand every menu or build a fortress immediately.

Description

A practical loop is: identify one shortage, collect what fixes it, return safely and improve your next trip. If you lack water, securing drinks is more useful than collecting another stack of decorative blocks. Food, stamina, equipment and carrying space affect each other, so a full backpack is not automatically a successful trip.

What to do in the first few minutes

7 Days to Die combines survival, equipment progression, scavenging and building. You do not need the best gear immediately. Your first goal is a tool, a safe return and supplies for the next expedition.

Open the inventory and distinguish a recipe from an owned item. A recipe describes what you can assemble; you collect the result after crafting. Put a tool on your toolbelt, select it and then use it.

Complete one small survival loop

Gather materials for a stone axe, prepare a basic weapon, find shelter and place a bedroll. Store unnecessary loot and replenish food and water. Go out for one missing resource and return before the situation exceeds your capabilities.

Controls can be rebound: read prompts on the item and your control settings. Searching, picking up, using, equipping and repairing are different actions. You need not guess them from an icon alone.

Plan the first week around readiness

A new weapon does not replace medicine, and a large base does not replace an escape route. After each expedition, review fighting capability, supplies, production and preparation for the next threat.

Change the plan when useful equipment appears. A finished tool or component can shorten progression more than a rigid day-by-day list. Pick the next goal around the actual bottleneck.

What to do

  1. Choose a world or server whose rules you understand. For a calmer introduction, lower difficulty is a reasonable choice. On multiplayer servers, check whether players can attack each other and whether the server uses modified rules.
  2. Follow the introductory tasks shown by the game. Gather their requested materials, craft the requested basics and learn the difference between moving, using an object, attacking and opening your inventory. Check your own key bindings in the controls menu.
  3. Before entering a building, keep a usable weapon, some stamina and a way out. Take food, drinking water and useful treatment when you find them. If a fight becomes unmanageable, leave instead of spending everything on one room.
  4. Set up a modest place to return to and place your bedroll. It marks a respawn location if your game settings allow respawning. Only your last placed bedroll is active; placing another replaces the previous point. Store spare supplies nearby. Check the world time and Blood Moon settings before planning a longer trip.

Terms in plain language

Stamina
The energy used by sprinting and many physical actions. It is different from health.
Crafting
Making an item from a recipe, which may also require an unlock, station or tool.
POI
A location or building you can explore. It may also be the target of a quest.
Perk
An ability bought with skill points. This is different from collecting crafting magazines.
Blood Moon
A recurring horde event governed by the world settings. Check its schedule instead of assuming every server uses the same rules.
Bedroll
A placeable item used to mark your respawn point. It does not let you sleep through the night.

Worked example

Before your next trip, finish this sentence: “I am going out to get ___, and I will turn back when ___.” A clear shortage and return condition prevent an early expedition from becoming an uncontrolled tour of every building.

Common mistake

Treating a powerful item found early as permission to ignore stamina, ammunition, repairs or an escape route.
