PC/Steam experimental release: bigger backpacks and b17 fixes. This summary covers the original V3.3 EXP and its b17 update. The release date shown refers to the original V3.3 EXP, not a separately confirmed b17 release date. This is not a stable or console release.
What changed
- Fixed in b17: dedicated servers again check a vehicle's storage before allowing pickup. Empty the vehicle first. The contents-loss bug from the first V3.3 EXP build is listed as fixed.
- Fixed in b17: dying while reloading no longer leaves the weapon malfunctioning. The old scrapping workaround is no longer needed for this bug in b17.
- Fixed in b17: changing clothing no longer disconnects other players. The earlier equipment-change warning for sessions with three or more players was removed from the active issues list.
- Known EXP issue: left-clicking the last magazine stack on the toolbelt to read it can cause an NRE (NullReferenceException). Until fixed, do not consume the last toolbelt stack this way; move it to the inventory first.
- Known EXP issue: the muzzle flash is missing when firing a weapon. The developers have not marked this visual issue as fixed.
- Known EXP issue in multiplayer: upgrading a chest while someone is using it does not update its displayed storage size. The developers have not marked this issue as fixed.
- Inventory: 48 slots in an 8×6 grid replace 45 slots in a 9×5 grid. Four rows are free of encumbrance; two rows are encumbered.
- Backpacks: Small, Medium and Large, each with six quality levels. Craft, loot or buy them and equip one in the new Backpack slot. Maximum inventory size is 96 slots in an 8×12 grid.
- Encumbrance: extra backpack slots are not automatically free of the carrying penalty. Pack Mule and Armor Pocket Mods can remove encumbrance.
- Fixes: fewer loading and respawn hangs; fixes for equipment duplication with the Equipment drop-on-death setting, flickering item backgrounds, duplicate stack-moving sounds and workstation collection prompts.
- Other changes: a rare save/multiblock thread deadlock was fixed, prefab memory use was optimized and Rancher footsteps were corrected. Prefab Editor gains toolbelt pages; a ranged-action change supports mod compatibility.
