Hunting, crouching and perks

Search kitchens, food stores and vending machines, check traders, harvest crops, hunt animals or keep chickens. Animal Tracker helps locate animals after crouching. The Huntsman increases resources harvested from animals. Kill the animal, then butcher its body with a bone knife, hunting knife or machete. A kill alone does not place all its meat into your inventory.

For a sneak attack, crouch and hit before the target becomes alerted. Crouching after an animal has already spotted you does not guarantee the bonus. Hidden Strike increases sneak-attack damage; bows and crossbows are useful for the opening shot. The Huntsman affects butchering yield, not the damage of that first hit. Its five ranks increase eligible harvests by 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100%.
