Chicken Coop
A chicken and feed allow the coop to produce eggs and feathers. Breeding requires at least two chickens and a Nesting Box.
Catch Chickens and place them in the slots.
Fuel with Chicken Feed.
Works best outdoors or with 6 air blocks above them.
Repair with Forged Iron.

How to use it
Place the coop outside with free space above it. Add a captured or domesticated chicken to the chicken slots and Chicken Feed to the feed slots. Feed is made from corn and rotting flesh. One chicken enables egg and feather production. Breeding needs at least two chickens and a Nesting Box. Collect the output and replenish feed; a full output, missing feed or blocked placement stops production. Output, costs and time depend on world settings.

Equipment and upgrades
The Brooding Lamp speeds production and maturation. The Chicken Run halves feed consumption. The Nesting Box enables breeding and adds output space for chickens. Put each upgrade in its matching equipment slot; keeping it in your backpack has no effect.

Catching a chicken
Approach a living chicken quietly, preferably while crouching. Get close and use the interaction shown on screen; the default PC interaction key is E. Catch it alive instead of killing it for meat. Carry the wild chicken to a chicken coop and move it into a chicken slot. Placing it there turns it into a domesticated chicken.
Carrying and stress
A wild chicken is carried in your hands and has a stress meter. Walking raises stress, sprinting raises it faster, crouch-walking calms it slowly, and standing still lets it calm down faster. Stop before the meter fills. Switching equipment or mounting a vehicle can make you drop the wild chicken. Plan a safe route and let another player protect you if possible.
Stress events
At 100% stress, the default random event can make you drop the chicken, anger nearby zombies, summon a zombie horde or release hostile chickens. More events become available as game stage rises. Game stage reflects progression and is not the world day. The Chicken Stress Event world setting can change or disable these events. The icons below describe events shown to the carrier, not diseases to cure with medicine.
