Game guide 7 Days to Die

From your first launch to your own base and first horde. One guide for about 30 minutes of reading: what to do, in what order and why. Start at the beginning; discreetly linked terms lead to detailed information in the encyclopedia.

Reading time: about 30 min
Chapter 01 / 14

Understand the goal and join a world

During the day, gather materials, search buildings and complete quests. Use your loot to improve your equipment, food supplies and defenses. Return home or prepare a safe shelter before nightfall. Enemies may move faster at night. At regular intervals, a Blood Moon brings a special horde that hunts the player. With default settings, this happens every 7 days. Day 7 is not the end of the game.

For your first time, choose a quieter solo world or a PVE server. Check the difficulty, horde time and items lost on death. The day counter on the server is common: if you join on horde day, you don't get your own week of protection. The sleeping bag does not cover the night. An open backpack doesn't stop attacks, and online menus don't stop the world either.

First launch - join our PVE 2 server

  1. Complete the installation and update of the game. Install the latest stable version of 7 Days to Die and wait for the update to complete. Before connecting, make sure the game version is compatible with the server version.
  2. Start on our PVE 2 server. Join the game with our community. If you need help with your first steps or during gameplay, ask on our Discord channel: www.7daystodie.pl/discord.
  3. Find PVE 2 in the server list. Search for 7DAYSTODIE.PL, select the Europe region and our PVE 2 server. If you don't see it, check your filters. Alternatively, use "Connect to IP": the IP address and port are entered in separate fields. Current details are available on the servers page or on the PVE 2 server website: www.7daystodie.com.pl.
  4. Adjust support. In settings, check mouse sensitivity, volume and controls. Choose a readable interface size. If the image stutters, start with a lower graphics profile; Smooth camera rotation helps you spot threats.
  • Length of a day and day: 60 minutes in a day means 60 real minutes per 24 hours in the game, not an hour of the day itself. Changing the length of the day changes the times of dusk and dawn.
  • Speed zombie (encyclopedia, new tab): day, night, feral and horde settings are separate. Even during the day, not every opponent has to walk slowly.

The game saves your character and world automatically. End your session via the menu and wait until you return to the main screen. To continue your adventure in PVE 2,reconnect to the same server - your character and her progress are linked to it. Do not select "New Game" to return to the game on the server.

Chapter 02 / 14

Learn the controls and craft your first item

WASD is movement,Shift sprint,Space jump,C crouch. E opens a container, door or station; holding E can bring up additional options. Tab opens the backpack and menu, M map,Y challenges. You select items on the bottom bar by number. Look at the hint under the crosshair.

LMB, i.e. the left mouse button, is used, among others, to: to attack and use bandage (encyclopedia, new tab) on yourself. RMB, the right button, depending on the item, allows you to aim, hit hard, place a block or repair. R reloads weapon (encyclopedia, new tab); when held, it allows, among others, select compatible ammunition type. Decreased health can result in death, lack of stamina takes away the energy to fight and run, and injury icons indicate a separate problem. In Tab, select "Character" and read "Status Effects".

How to make an item, put it on and use it

  1. Open Tab and search for a recipe. Select it and check its ingredients, unlock requirements, quality and required workstation.
  2. Collect the missing ingredients in your backpack. Don't assume that the game gets them from a nearby chest. Set the quantity and start production. Wait until the end of the queue.
  3. Get the result. A handmade item goes to the inventory, and a crafted item goes to the station's exit. With a full backpack, first clear some space.
  4. Drag the weapon or tool to the bar and select it by number. Armor (encyclopedia, new tab) select and use the equip action. Check if it appears in your character's equipment slot - simply carrying it in a backpack does not provide protection.

Mark food, medicine or a book in your backpack and read the available actions. Using, throwing away and scrapping are different activities. Scrapping turns an item into materials and doesn't allow you to reclaim it with a single click.

Building: build, check, then improve

  1. Create building shapes, move to bar and select. Hold R to select a shape; start with a full cube.
  2. Set the view to the ground. Rotate it and put it RMB. A blocked view means you need to move or remove an obstacle.
  3. You can pick up the unupgraded frame according to the hint next to the crosshair. Test the layout before releasing your materials.
  4. Take the stone axe. RMB repairs the damaged block and can start improvement on the repaired one. The material must match the stage shown on screen.
  5. Once upgraded, don't treat the block as a portable frame. Practice repairing one cheap item before you depend on it during the horde.
Chapter 03 / 14

Prepare your starter kit and maintain your gear

  1. Open Y, follow "Survival Basics" and receive completed challenges. This is an introduction to collecting, creating and using things.
  2. Pick up small stones from the ground with E, hit the grass to the fibers and get the wood. In Tab, search for a stone axe, collect the indicated ingredients and start crafting. Select the finished ax on the belt.
  3. Make a sleeping bag from fibers and put RMB. Check its marker on the map. A sleeping bag carried in a backpack does not mark rebirth.
  4. Make a wooden club, a primitive bow and arrows from wood, stone and nest feathers. Reload bow. Leave the ax primarily for work.
  5. Craft a primitive armor (encyclopedia, new tab) and equip its four pieces in the character screen. Move bandage (encyclopedia, new tab) to its permanent location on the belt. Before leaving, check your weapons, water, food and the way home.

The recipe shows the missing ingredient, unlock and required station. Keep the ingredients in your backpack; do not assume downloading from the chest. Don't click "Scrap" when you want to use an item: scrapping turns it into material.

Overload is occupied places, not kilograms

The penalty occurs when you occupy restricted backpack spaces. Connect incomplete piles, leave cheap loot and put aside building materials before the task. Armor pockets, appropriate perks (encyclopedia, new tab) and settings affect the available slots. A larger backpack does not replace the selection of things.

How to repair equipment

For a normal item repair: Tab → select the item → Repair, with the required material in your backpack. Wait for the repair to finish and check the durability bar. You can craft a repair kit in your inventory from 1 forged iron and 1 duct tape (encyclopedia, new tab). You do not use a repair kit by eating it. Forged iron is not the same as scrap iron. If you lack the repair material, keep the damaged item and use a working spare weapon instead of going out unarmed.

Armor, quality and modifications

Plug the equipment into all available basic sockets. Light armor facilitates mobility, heavier armor usually trades some freedom for protection. Compare specific item bonuses and penalties, not just the set name. The full set bonus requires its conditions to be met; mixed elements can also be useful.

A higher color doesn't solve everything. Compare weapon type, damage, pace, stamina, reload and ammo. In V3, individual stat bonuses (Magnitude) are also important. In the item customization menu, place matching attachments into available slots; Before selling your old item, take out valuable mods.

Chapter 04 / 14

Set up a shelter before the first night

In the forest, choose a small building, clear it of enemies and also check the basement and roof. Fix the entrance, leave a second exit, place a chest, a fire and a sleeping bag. Mark the place on the map. For your first bonfire you need stones; you add fuel, e.g. wood, to work. Don't leave cooking without checking whether it has really started.

A sleeping bag and an area protection block are not the same thing

The Sleeping Bag is used for respawning and has a limited effect on respawning nearby enemies. The Terrain Protection Block designates a plot of land according to world settings, helps protect occupied space, and can allow you to raise your own stations. Once set up, check the boundaries, activity and permissions.

None of them are invisible walls stopping a zombie from entering. In PVP, protection and raids depend on the rules. Do not start the quest in a building used as a house - activating the quest recreates its area.

Plot Control: place your own RMB protection block, approach and hold E. Select "Show boundaries", check the outline and activity information. Don't put more blocks to the test: the world may limit the number of active plots. To move your own station, go to your active plot and hold E. If a pick-up action is available, empty the station first and check if it is repaired. Do not smash it with its contents.

Why the structure is collapsing

The blocks must transfer the load to a stable base. Build supports from the ground and add short, supported sections instead of a long bridge in the air. Do not remove a load-bearing wall without replacement support. Stronger material does not fix a bad layout, and when a support is destroyed by zombies, crates and stations may collapse as well.

Base work can attract opponents

Many activities and operating devices increase local activity, called a heatmap. This is not the temperature of the character. Limit unnecessary station operation, secure access to them and respond to the Screamers. Silence at home does not mean that long-running production goes unnoticed.

Chapter 05 / 14

Fight with distance, not by trading hits

Choose one regular zombie in an open area and start with full stamina. Hit the club, move away from the swing, and attack again after regaining distance. A strong attack consumes more energy; leave enough room for escape. When backing up, control the road behind you. A lying opponent can get up. Firearms are supposed to save you from injury, not wait in your backpack for the perfect moment.

Types of zombies - recognize the threat, change behavior

What do you encounterWhat to do
Just a zombieSeparate from the group and practice striking and retreating. Being knocked down doesn't always mean death; check if it is still moving.
Feral, often with light eyesExpect greater speed and resilience. Don't use it without checking your fighting rhythm against a weak, slow opponent.
Radiated, green glowRegeneration rewards continuous, effective damage. Focus fire on one target; proper modification against regeneration helps.
Higher variants, including: charged and infernalTreat them as late, more dangerous versions. Don't conclude from the color alone what effect they create. Keep your distance and back away if you can't handle their stamina.
ScreamerRemove as quickly as possible before he calls for help. At the base, also check the sources of activity attracting threats.
A cop and a mutant zombieDon't stand in the line of an acid attack; use cover. Move away from the Cop starting the suicide explosion immediately.
Demolition (demolisher), detonator on the chestAvoid the detonator with your crosshair. The activated charge can destroy the position and supports - you need space and retreat.
Spider, dogs, wolves, bears and vulturesJumping, speed or flight limit the safety of a low obstacle. A beginner should avoid dangerous animals and not hunt every creature he encounters.

The weapon does not fire - check in this order

In combat, switch to backup and move enemies away. Behind cover, check durability → compatible ammo in backpack → type selection under held R → reload → number of rounds. Wait for the reload to complete. Just having ammunition in your vehicle or box is not enough.

Chapter 06 / 14

Secure clean water and food

Clean water and the first meal from scratch

  1. Find ready-made drinks or muddy water. Search small kitchens and bathrooms. Trading and slots are an additional source, but the offer is not guaranteed.
  2. Have an empty jar? Collect water. Select it on the bar, approach the water and use RMB as prompted. Don't drink unpurified water just because it has been collected.
  3. Place a fire and open it with E. Put the pot into its socket and the wood into the fuel. The pot in the backpack is not campfire equipment.
  4. Select water recipe. With muddy water, add production to the queue, turn on the fire and get the result. Check if a previous recipe is not blocking the queue.
  5. Obtain meat from safe prey. First, you can slaughter the carcass with a stone ax and use the collected bones to make a bone knife for more efficient processing. Without a pot or a grate, you can prepare charred meat on the fire; it satisfies hunger but reduces hydration. Also save eggs and ingredients for unlocked dishes.

I don't have a pot or water supply

Postpone your long trip. Search kitchens, traders and available vending machines for a ready-to-drink beverage or a cooking pot. If you already have a forge (encyclopedia, new tab) and the required materials, you can craft a pot. A dew collector will not solve an immediate shortage: you must unlock it, build it and wait for it to produce water.

Don't assume that every drink you drink will return an empty jar - this is determined by the setting of the world. Jars can also be crafted at the forge. Keep some of the clean water for drinking instead of using it all for glue or cooking.

Why did zombies come running after hunting or eating?

With your opponents' sense of smell active, smell can reveal your presence regardless of silence. Hunting, carrying meat, eating and dysentery can cause it. Observe the smell icon, eat in a proven place, and store fresh meat in your vehicle or pack it with the appropriate recipe. Immersing yourself in water may wash away the current odor, but it does not remove the cause that you still carry. If you hear enemies coming, stop sorting the loot and prepare to retreat.

Chapter 07 / 14

Identify the injury and choose the right treatment

Bleeding: move the enemy away, select the bandage on the belt, use LMB and wait for the animation to end. Check if the icon has disappeared. A simple bandage stops bleeding but does not restore health; first aid bandage (encyclopedia, new tab) also does the latter. You can make a bandage from 10 fabrics, and the fabric can be made from cotton or recovered, e.g. from curtains. Do not choose RMB if you want to bandage yourself - a bandage is used to treat another person.

Infection: react early. Honey (encyclopedia, new tab) from stumps can help, but it is not always appropriate. One serving heals 5 percentage points over time; 8% of infections will not disappear with one serving. Sprain or fracture: Use an indicated splint or cast and limit movements that worsen the injury. Unclear effect: read it in the character screen and compare it with the drug description. Don't use it all up to test. If you lack stamina (encyclopedia, new tab), also check for crouching, water, food, overload and armor penalties.

ProblemAction and its effect
Sprain or fractureRead the injury instructions, use an appropriate splint or cast, and limit activities that prolong treatment. In V3.2, rail (encyclopedia, new tab) also works on sprains; the treated limb still needs time.
ConcussionChoose the medicine indicated in the description, e.g. a painkiller. Check its effect on hydration.
A deep woundUse a sewing kit or other recommended means. Merely regaining hit points does not remove the cause of the restrictions.
Dysentery/sickness after eatingStop eating risky foods, supplement with clean drinks and use the remedy indicated, such as goldenrod tea. Plan reserves for loss of needs.
FireLeave the burning area and extinguish yourself, e.g. in available water. Beware of entering the fire again; after extinguishing, check health.

The medicine has been used and the problem remains?

Check the name of the effect being treated, its counter and the available maximum health. The injury may block part of the maximum, and the splint will only start the recovery. Don't use several different medications blindly. Early infection is easier to control: you can look for honey by destroying tree stumps, but not everyone will give it.

Chapter 08 / 14

Explore locations and complete quests

POI is a prepared location, e.g. a house or a shop. Difficulty indicator and biome help assess risk; a small building doesn't have to be easy. To start, choose close, low-level places in the forest. Leave time to come back.

How to safely search a building

Go around it and remember the exits. Once inside, follow a cleared route, usually indicated by lights and open passages. After the fight, reload, regain stamina and check your back. Don't jump to an unknown lower level. The main chest does not mean the end of threats: the last room can be an ambush.

In a closed container, check for opening accessibility. The lock pick may break; an alternative is to carefully break the protection with a tool. Stop hitting when the container can be opened. Don't destroy the contents unnecessarily and don't make noise without any way back.

The task from acceptance to reward

  1. Talk to the trader with E. Select the order, read the type, level and distance. A far away easy mission may be less profitable than a close regular shop.
  2. Follow the quest in your journal. Follow the marker. Before starting, move your vehicle and remove your own belongings from the job area.
  3. Use the yellow marker with E. This starts the mission and recreates the location. The mere search of the building does not complete the mission.
  4. Complete all goals. Please bring the correct package upon delivery; when clearing, remove required enemies; a combined task requires both activities. Regular loot does not replace the quest item.
  5. Check the instructions to return to the merchant. Only then leave the area. Return to the indicated giver, select the reward and confirm the return.

Not all orders are executed equally

  • Shipment: also follow the marker vertically, check the first floor and basement. You must take the indicated item.
  • Cleansing and Infestation: The main target is the required enemies. Infestation means harder pressure; don't pick it just for the extra loot.
  • Buried supplies: Take a shovel, dig in the marked area, make a way out of the pit and react to approaching enemies. Don't dig a vertical trap for yourself.
  • Power Restoration: read required time and purpose; you usually need to operate the generator and deal with combat. This is not just an ordinary quick parcel pickup.

Mission failed despite search

Check: activation → shipment → all required enemies → borders → log message. Return along the location route and check the floors you missed. Leaving the area before completion may mean failure. Everyone must accept the common mission correctly - description in team game. Once the target is actually locked, write down the name, location and message; don't reset the building blindly.

First, spend the money (Dukes) on eliminating the shortage: a drink, a pot, a medicine, a needed warehouse or a part. Please check the quantity and full cost before purchasing. Set aside an emergency fund. Offer, working hours and assignment limit may vary by world.

Chapter 09 / 14

Spend skill points wisely and read crafting magazines

You gain XP, or experience, for your actions in the game. Promotion gives you points to develop according to the settings. Open the skill menu and check the requirements and actual rank effect before purchasing.

SystemWhat is it for?
AttributeMain characteristic, e.g. Strength. The required level allows you to purchase higher ranks of assigned perks; I don't buy them automatically.
PerkBonus to a weapon or activity. It may also increase the chance of related items and reading material in their respective loot pools.
Crafting magazine (encyclopedia, new tab)After reading, he develops specific crafting. Subsequent thresholds unlock recipes and quality. It is not a point for any release.
A book in a series or diagramThe volume gives the benefit described; set series bonus set. The diagram teaches the indicated recipe. Read the description and state of knowledge.

Picking up a book is not reading it. In your backpack, select it, select use/read and check the change in the appropriate skill. In your team, determine the recipient before reading; Unlocks do not automatically apply to everyone.

A simple start with the club - an example of six points

This is a proposition for a player who fights, cooks and collects on his own. The number indicates the next point spent, not the character's level. Points can be kept; you don't have to buy everything at once.

PointPurchase and reason
1Pummel Pete 1: More effective clubs and lower attack costs. Does not strengthen the hammer or spear.
2Miner 69'er 1: more efficient tools for obtaining materials.
3Master Chef 1: Cook faster, save money and help you find culinary reading. It does not replace the pot or unlock the dish.
4 and 5Strength 2, then Strength 3: meet the attribute requirement for the second rank of Pummel Pete.
6Pummel Pete 2: Further improvement of main weapon after meeting the requirement.

If someone is cooking or kicking for the team, skip this purchase and develop your own role beforehand. For another weapon, choose its perk. Strength supports, among others: clubs, hammers and guns; Perception spears and guns; Fortitude of fists and machine guns; Agility bows, guns and knives; Intellect electric batons and robotics. Do not distribute the first points evenly among all directions.

Does the perk make me find more of the right books?

Yes, related perks increase the chances of suitable reads, but only where a given loot pool can select them. Pummel Pete supports mace depots, and Advanced Engineering among others. station warehouses. This does not mean a book in every trash can. Also look for shelves, mailboxes and the dealer's offer.

Chapter 10 / 14

Start production and gather the right materials

Before you spend a day on ingredients, open the recipe and read:unlock, required station, equipment, materials, and crafting location. A found station wreck does not have to be a working station; check its name and available actions.

The most important station thresholds for warehouse progression in V3.2
PurposeCondition and application
ForgeWorkstations 4 after reading Forge Ahead. Metal, basic production tools, including: pot and jars according to the recipe.
WorkbenchWorkstations 10. Opens a place to craft many parts, weapons and devices - their own recipes may require separate unlocking.
Dew collectorWorkstations 16 and a workbench to craft. Provides water gradually, not when placed.
Concrete mixerWorkstations 34. Production of concrete mix and materials for stronger defense.
Chemical stationWorkstations 50. More efficient chemical and fuel production according to unlocked recipes.
CrucibleWorkstations 75 to craft; this is forge equipment, not a separate station. Needed, among others: for forged steel. The possibility of obtaining a ready-made copy is a separate path.

These numbers indicate the crafting skill level, not the character level. Reading speed, recipe availability and alternative ways of obtaining an item may differ between worlds.

Station operation in five steps

  1. Place it firmly and open it with E.
  2. Place the required tools in their slots, such as a pot in the bonfire or a crucible in the forge. Check the specific recipe requirement.
  3. Prepare ingredients and fuel if the station requires it. Not all devices need fuel or electricity.
  4. Select the recipe, quantity and quality, start production and turn on the station, if there is such a button.
  5. Collect the result from the output. Make sure the correct recipe has run out, not just the one earlier in the queue.

Forge: two modes, two material slots

With remelting: insert iron, clay or other raw material into the remelting input, add fuel and turn on the forge. Wait until its internal resources increase. Only from them you start the appropriate production. The raw material in the backpack or just putting it into the entrance does not mean that it is ready to be smelted.

No Smelting: The "Smelting Type" setting may allow you to craft directly from materials in your backpack. Then follow this version of the recipe; don't look for a non-existent resource filling step. The station view and world settings determine which instruction fits.

The materials are there, but there is no production

Check unlock → correct station → tool in slot → fuel and power-up → materials slot → queue → result slot. Only cancel the unnecessary item after checking the effects. Don't destroy the resource forge as your first attempt to fix the problem.

  • Trees: axe; The stone one helps at the beginning, the better one shortens the later work.
  • Stone and ore: pickaxe; for earth, sand and clay shovel. Don't assume that one powerful weapon will replace all tools.
  • Cars and appliances: wrench, ratchet or impact wrench for parts recovery. Breaking with a random tool does not give the same recovery.
  • Animal carcasses: knife or appropriate binding tool. Check your surroundings before you start.
Chapter 11 / 14

Prepare for and survive your first horde

With classic settings,Blood Moon occurs every 7 days, from 22:00 to 04:00. The world owner can change the frequency, draw, time based on day/night and opponents. Check the actual date on your server.

During this horde, just sneaking or hiding is not enough: enemies are looking for the player. Don't rely on a hole in the ground, a random roof, or constant driving. The defense must allow attack, repair and retreat.

Example to be implemented: corridor with two barriers

For your first attempt, use a small, cleared facility with strong walls, floor and roof separate from the house. Take a passage one block wide, with room to retreat behind you and exit on the other side. Don't use a dilapidated wooden shed. Fill in the weak sides before installing the barriers - otherwise the enemies will bypass the entrance.

Prepare: a stone axe, measuring frames, wall and floor repair material, two iron hatches, close-range weapons, backup weapons, ammunition and healing. The basic recipe for one iron hatch is 10 wrought iron; for two you need 20, plus a separate supply of wrought iron for repairs. Wood won't fix an iron hatch. This is the equipment of a site in an existing building, not the cost of building the entire facility.

  1. Determine the line of passage. Behind the entrance, leave space for the first barrier, two free spaces for reversing, a second barrier and a path to the back exit. Fill in the side holes and check the condition of the lintel. Don't block your path with crates.
  2. Place the first hatch flat on the passage floor. Adjust the rotation before positioning. Use E: When you lift the flap, it should intersect from side to side rather than fold along the wall. Check the direction in a cheap fitting before you spend on stronger materials.
  3. Put the second barrier further in. Leave it in a passable position. While retreating, you go behind her and lift the flap through E. Practice this move without an opponent; you can't get stuck between the trapdoor and the wall.
  4. Check the first position. Stand behind the raised flap. You need to be able to swing over it, move back beyond the swing, and reach the ax to repair it. Don't lean your character against the barrier: the zombie can reach through the gap. Adjust the space above the flap if your opponent is jumping or passing.
  5. Try the routine on a single regular zombie during the day. Watch to see if it approaches the barrier, hits the weak side, avoids the entrance, or gets in over the top. Check RMB repair after damage. If you can't control the pressure and repair at the same time, fix the layout before the horde.
  6. Prepare the final retreat route. Behind the second position, there must be a working exit to the identified area, without a blind jump. Illuminate the position, cover the sides and roof. Keep your spare on the side, within safe handling reach.
View from above: order of positions in the corridor

Entrance from the zombie side

Hatch 1 - raised hatch

Your position and two free retreat squares

Hatch 2 - lift it after passing it

Second position

Back exit → route recognized

Gray sides indicate strong walls. The diagram shows order, not scale or height. The floor and roof must have stable support; the barrier does not replace walls, lintels and protection against flight or ranged attacks.

This is an example to practice, not an indestructible base or a system to be left unattended. Testing with one zombie checks access and repairs, but does not prove immunity to the entire horde. Numbers, block damage, more powerful variants and your weapon change the outcome. When repairs can't keep up, retreat to the second position sooner. For a more difficult horde, you need further reinforcement and better weapons.

Check readiness before evening

Repair and reload both weapons. Take matching ammo, bandages, stronger healing, food, water, and materials for the blocks used. Take the emergency route. If using electricity, test fuel, traps and switches before hording.

During the attack

  • Repair the barrier before its strength becomes critical. Also watch the supports and side entrances.
  • Don't use up all your stamina on a series of strong blows. Keep your more powerful weapons ready to break control.
  • Prioritize the response to ranged attacks and enemies destroying key elements. Avoid the Demolition detonator.
  • Grenades, explosives and fire can also threaten you, the structure or your team. Check use before night; don't experiment with your own barrier.
  • Move to second position when you can no longer keep up with the defense, not just after closing the exit.

After dawn, check for remaining enemies before you start collecting loot. Inspect damage and replace used supplies.

Chapter 12 / 14

After the horde, become self-sufficient and travel

Dew Collector: Unlocked does not mean ready to drink

Once unlocked, craft it at the workbench. Place it outdoors with some space above the unit and check its window. Insert empty jars if your setup requires them. Wait for production and receive the result regularly. Without a proper filter, you end up with muddy water for boiling; the collector or tarpaulin itself does not replace the filter.

Production: Forge, workshop, regular water, cultivation and subsequent stations eliminate daily shortages. A dew collector takes time, and without a filter, the resulting water needs to be boiled. You plant crops from seeds in fertile soil, harvest them when ripe and leave some for a new sowing. Just setting up the device does not mean the start of production: check the equipment, input, switching on and result.

First, turn on the lamp, then build up your defenses

  1. Place a generator, a switch and a lamp. The Generator Bank requires at least one engine and gasoline. The generator itself does not produce energy.
  2. Equip the pliers. RMB start the wire on the generator, then RMB connect the switch. From there, run the second cable to the lamp.
  3. Turn on the source and switch. Check that the lamp is on and whether the switch actually turns it off. Read the power of the source and the demand of the receivers.
  4. Only after a successful attempt, add a trap. Check the requirements, ammo and aiming settings. The LMB clipper is used to cut off the device's connection from its source.

Step by step biome progression

  1. Check if the world has biome progression enabled. If so, open Y, the biomes tab, and read the appropriate challenge group.
  2. Before entering, prepare the temporary protection indicated in the game, e.g. black lung serum for the burned forest. Check the recipe, action time and retreat route. Don't assume that a regular drink works the same.
  3. Complete the requirements in the appropriate biome: watch the counters, required items and the previous stage. The challenge may involve making, using, or wearing an item, not just finding it.
  4. Receive completed challenges and gear unlocks. Collect the ingredients and craft the right equipment: smoke, desert, snow or radiation.
  5. Equip it in the biome (encyclopedia, new tab) badge slot and check the effect. Receiving a recipe does not mean you will receive a finished item, and the item in your backpack does not replace equipment.

Biome hazard, temperature, and storms are separate systems. Biome gear does not automatically remove storm and temperature hazards. When a warning or increasing effect appears, abort your expedition and seek shelter or leave the biome.

First vehicle and daily maintenance

A bicycle makes trips faster without using gasoline, but faster pedaling consumes stamina. The minibike, motorcycle, 4x4 truck and gyrocopter require fuel. Available parts and crafting options depend on your progression. Buying a vehicle or earning one as a reward can be an alternative to crafting it.

  1. Select a ready-made vehicle on the bar and place the RMB on an open area. Enter via E. Check vehicle control in settings; Don't assume that a gyroplane behaves like a car.
  2. Refueling: exit the vehicle, have gas in your backpack, aim at the vehicle and hold E. Select the refueling action. There is also a "Add fuel" button in the service window. Check fuel level increase; the item in the storage compartment does not have to be available for this activity.
  3. Repair: have a repair kit in your backpack, open service and select "Repair". Check the increase in durability. Repair before a long journey; collisions can damage your vehicle and leave you stranded from home.
  4. Clipboard and security: hold E and select the appropriate option when hovering over the icon. Place the cargo in the storage compartment, but keep the bandage and weapon on you. "Block" restricts access; do not assume that a vehicle is shared simply by joining a team.
  5. Park outside the boundaries of running tasks and mark your position. Before lifting the vehicle, empty the glove compartment and check the space in your backpack. If the action is unavailable, read the requirement instead of crashing the vehicle.
Chapter 13 / 14

Play together and agree on access to shared supplies

Solo you provide all the supplies yourself. PVE brings cooperation against the world. PVP adds player threat. The name of the mode does not replace the rules: check allied damage, raids, plot protection, death, world reset and rules of other people's buildings.

Team and allies

Open Tab → "Players", find your friend in the list and use the invite action in the team column. The other person must accept the invitation at their place. Check the common team and markers on the map; shared XP may depend on distance. A separate relationship is established in the allies column. Alliance, team and container access are not the same thing.

How to complete a joint mission

  1. Create a team. One person accepts a task from a trader, opens Tab → tasks, selects it and selects "Share task". When the range information appears, move closer to each other.
  2. Everyone opens "Shared Tasks", accepts the order and checks if they see it in their own journal. Just being invited to join the team is not enough.
  3. Before activating the yellow marker, gather everyone at the task location. If the game warns that someone is out of range, do not approve starting without that person.

My friend can't open my box or door

The owner aims at his/her locked container or door and holds E. In the radial menu, checks "Lock", "Unlock" and the code option if the property supports it. Simply closing the door leaf does not install a lock. Instead of sharing the vault with everyone by unlocking it, you can use the code and check the entry on the other person's account. Don't share your code in public chat. If there is still no access, check the owner, alliance and plot rules.

Determine who develops stations, cooking and vehicles. Pass the right magazines before reading to help you reach your thresholds faster. The rest can use the things they make, but they do not automatically get producer skills. It's good to have a replacement when the only craftsman isn't playing.

Chapter 14 / 14

When something goes wrong, regain control

  1. Remove immediate threat. Move away from the attacker, get out of the fire, or find cover. Leave the menu and diagnosis for a safe moment.
  2. Stop the deterioration. Stop the bleeding, refill your water, give up excessive loot, or exit a dangerous biome.
  3. Check for cause. Weapon: durability, compatible ammo, reload. Production: recipe, station, tool, ingredients, fuel and queue. Task: activation, all goals, boundaries, return.
  4. After death, prepare recovery. If gear is dropped, check the backpack tag, grab a cheap spare set, and return during the day or with help. Another unarmed run usually repeats the problem.

Select an available spawn at or near the sleeping bag. If your gear is dropped, look for the backpack marker. Take cheap weapons, drinking and healing from the reserve; only then come back. When an enemy is guarding things, lure him away safely, ask for help or wait for better conditions. On difficult settings, some items may be lost forever.

I don't see the server or I can't join

  1. Check the exact name, region, filters and current IP and port. Removing a server from the filter results does not mean it is disabled.
  2. Compare the client and server versions, including stable/experimental and required mods. If the server requires EAC, run the game with EAC. Don't disable system security as a one-size-fits-all "fix."
  3. Read the full message: password, lack of free space, version required and connection drop are different causes.

The image freezes or the world reacts with a delay?

Low frame rate: lower the graphics profile, especially expensive shadows and draw distance, close unnecessary applications and check the same part of the game again. Large cities and numerous facilities may be more demanding than an open forest.

Delayed hits, reversing positions or teleporting others: check your connection and ping, compare the situation with other players. Changing textures will not fix an overloaded server or a weak connection. Change one thing at a time to recognize the result.

Do not select wipe data or attempt to delete records. Job errors, vehicle loss, or post-update issues may require administrator assistance. Add version, mods, reproduction steps, location and message to your report. Share the log after checking whether it contains private data.
